A lovely, naturally bright white spinning fiber. This staple is fairly uniform and short (under 3"), which is typical for lamb's wool and this prep has very few neps. This wool has a coarse hand but that makes it great for felting, especially hats and slippers! It is sturdy and will be long-wearing!
If you're going to spin it, as with most short staple wools, it should be spun with lots of twist to prevent pilling. Because it's white it takes dye beautifully! Great for a vest, outerwear, rugs or any project where you want to show off your stitches!
The raw fleece was cleaned and processed at a custom mill into pin drafted roving so there has been minimal processing and NO harsh chemicals or fiber strippers used (that's why there is a little veg in it). This means the very best qualities of this fiber have been preserved! It also means this fiber has a very small environmental foot print! I find the veg simply falls out as you spin.
This fiber is pretty clean with only the odd small bits of veg matter. I have spun up some of this myself and I don't have to pre-draft it at all. That's the beauty of pin drafted roving! The staple is lamb's wool short and the fiber is soft enough for next-to-skin wear.
This fiber is 100% naturally white mixed breed lamb's wool, raised in a humane environment on a Saskatchewan ranch. A very "close to nature" product!
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being potscrubbers and 10 being a baby's bottom this fibers is a 5-6 with a firm hand.
This fiber will felt and can also be dyed. Hand wash in lukewarm. Lay flat to dry.
This listing is for a (very long) strip of pin drafted roving with a total weight of about 4 ounces.
